The Farthings of Lurgashall – and far beyond. Fri 17th May – CANCELLED DUE TO ILLNESS

TALK CANCELLED DUE TO ILLNESS

We are very sorry to have to tell you that Michael Farthing, our speaker for the talk on 17th May about the Farthings of Lurgashall and beyond, has unexpectedly been taken ill and will now be unable to join us.

As the evening was to be very much centred around Michael, his links to the Lurgashall Farthing family and his book on the family after they left the village, we really don’t feel we can go ahead with the evening without him.

We very much hope to be able to re-schedule for later in the year as and when Michael has made a good recovery.

There is still some money to distribute from last year’s Fete!  Applications must be submitted by email to lurgashallfete@gmail.com no later than 12th March.

Quiz Night in aid of Lurgashall Recreation Association – Thurs 7 March, 7.30pm

Lurgashall Recreation Association (LRA) was set up to maintain our village Jubilee Field as a recreational space for the community.

Mowing the field, keeping hedges trimmed, managing the car parking area and keeping the field clear of litter all take time and money.

So, once a year the LRA hold a Quiz Night to help raise funds for looking after this lovely community asset.

It’s not too late to book a team or join a team for what promises to be a fun night!

Call Joanne on 07802 946220.

Easter Bingo – Saturday 23rd March, eyes down at 7.30pm

Easter in Lurgashall would be incomplete – and certainly a lot less fun! – without the wonderful Bingo Evening held at the Village Hall.

Once again the evening will be hosted by our excellent bingo caller, Francis (Sprog) Dillon-Thiselton, supported as always by his wife Rose.

Lots of prizes to be won – delicious interval snacks – cash bar.

Do come and join in the fun!  No need to book in advance.

Film Night – Wednesday 10th January, 7 for 7.30pm

Escape the post-Christmas blues and join us for January’s film, ‘The Great Escaper’!  Starring two legends of stage and screen, Glenda Jackson (her last film before her death) and Michael Caine (his last film before ‘retirement’), this wonderful and uplifting film will kick off our New Year in fine form.

Also, WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT!  If the Village Hall is to continue offering Film Night as a community event, it needs at least to cover its costs (incl. over £100 licence fee per film), and to do that it needs a good-sized audience.

So, for just £5 entry (on the door), come and enjoy a great film, a sociable chat, cash bar and delicious interval ice creams!  See you there!
