Film Night – “Goodbye Christopher Robin” – Wed. 7 November

Goodbye Christopher Robin - Nov 2018A glimpse into the relationship between beloved children’s author A. A. Milne  and his son Christopher Robin, whose toys inspired the magical world of Winnie the Pooh.

Having been wounded at the Battle of the Somme in 1916, Alan Alexander Milne is invalided back to London where he is recruited to write propaganda articles for MI7. He and his wife Daphne have a son, Christopher Robin (nicknamed Billy), and in 1925, the family moves from London to East Sussex, where Alan settles down to writing plays, poems and books.

His wanderings with his young son in the Ashdown Forest near their home, and their play-acting with Billy’s toy animals become the inspiration for a series of Milne’s books whose enchanting tales bring hope and comfort to post-war England – and become among the most-loved and most sold children’s books ever written.
