Easter news at Lurgashall Village Shop

Shop Easter 2018Lurgashall Village Shop is now operating as a community shop and has just completed its third week of trading.  Huge thanks go to everyone who has enabled this vital village hub to continue, including:

  • all our customers, old and new
  • the army of volunteers
  • Pam, who has so kindly agreed to help keep the Post Office going in March
  • the “management” – Sophie, Annabel, Malcolm, Hennie, Sally and Anthony, without whom this whole venture would never have happened.

The shop is open over Easter Bank Holiday weekend, so please make a visit and buy your groceries (and EASTER EGGS)!
From Monday (26th), there will be daily deliveries of fresh HOT CROSS BUNS until the weekend.
And for those who enjoy BAKING, the shop has extended its range of ingredients available on the baking shelves.
If you fancy the cake without the baking, there are three new delicious COOLMORE CAKES to choose from: lemon drizzle, chocolate fudge and carrot cake.
There is also a selection of lovely EASTER CARDS, and
STAMPS are now held at the shop counter, should you need to post a card or letter when the Post Office is closed.
So, we are well stocked, looking forward to seeing you – and wishing you all a Very Happy Easter!

Village Hall Dates for your Diaries in March and April

Mar-Apr 2018MARCH  has seen:

  • the postponement of the L.R.A Quiz Night (in aid of the Jubilee Field) – now re-scheduled for Sat 5 May.
  • a warm and cosy matinee showing of ‘Paddington 2’ – brilliant film, delicious ice cream and enjoyed by children and grown-ups alike!
  • another very successful Easter Bingo evening, run with great aplomb by Francis and Rose Dillon-Thiselton.

APRIL offers the Horticultural Club’s Spring Show, (STOP PRESS: change of date to Thurs. 19 April); and the LRA AGM, when we’ll hear the latest news of what’s going on in the Jubilee Field.

Snow – and a Postponement

Snowy Lurgashall 2 Mar20182 March 2018 – Lurgashall Village is carpeted in snow and looks wonderfully picturesque, but…. it’s not easy for many villagers, and so neighbours are out in force to make sure that everyone is safe, warm and well.

Meanwhile, the ‘makeover’ to the Village Shop continues, in spite of the wintry weather, and the large team of volunteers are well on schedule to have the shop re-furbished, re-stocked and open again for business on Monday 5 March.

However, one casualty of the snow – our village is virtually cut off – is the LRA Quiz Night on Sat 3 March.  This will now be re-scheduled for sometime in May.
